David Barron, a prominent British film producer with credits on six Harry Potter films, is entering the generative artificial intelligence sector by producing an AI adaptation of Jack London's 1903 novel The Call of the Wild. The film, written and directed by Simon Rumley and produced at nmatic studio, is being positioned as the first truly faithful cinematic adaptation of the novel because it will be told from the subjective perspective of Buck, the story's canine protagonist. Barron argues that technological advances have finally made it possible to realise London's epic vision on screen, which was previously logistically and financially prohibitive.

The Call of the Wild follows a pampered St. Bernard dog removed from his comfortable life in California's Santa Clara Valley and thrust into the brutal world of the 1890s Klondike Gold Rush, where he must adapt to his wild instincts. London's novel has been adapted for cinema multiple times, most recently in a 2020 film directed by Michael Green and starring Harrison Ford. The production team includes producers Barron, Mark Sandell and Nick Price, whilst Chris Catchpole, Carl Lyttle and Toby White head up the prompting and technical work at nmatic.
