‘Haunted’ hotel famous for scaring baseball players draws World Series focus

Fox News ·

Milwaukee’s Pfister Hotel has drawn attention ahead of the city’s first World Series in 44 years because of its reputation for frightening baseball players. Several players have described unsettling experiences there, while others believe the stories concern a friendly ghost.

Minnesota Twins outfielder Carlos Gomez said in 2009 that his iPod played an eerie tone and that he heard voices; he later brought a Bible when staying at the hotel. A Brewers clubhouse manager also recalled an unnamed rookie finding his room’s window and blinds open twice, then sleeping in the lobby before moving to a nearby motel. Opened in 1893 by Guido and Charles Pfister, the hotel is said by some to be haunted by Charles, imagined as a smiling, portly gentleman. If the World Series reaches Game 7, Milwaukee is due to host it on Halloween night.
