HBO Max Officially Says Goodbye to Matt Damon’s Best Picture-Winning Crime Masterpiece

Martin Scorsese’s crime drama *The Departed* is leaving HBO Max in the United States on 1 November, giving viewers a limited time to stream the film there. The 2006 film matters for its acclaimed ensemble cast and for earning Scorsese his long-awaited Best Director Oscar, as well as the Best Picture award.

The film stars Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, Vera Farmiga, Ray Winstone, Alec Baldwin, Mark Wahlberg and Martin Sheen. A remake of Hong Kong film *Infernal Affairs*, it follows an undercover police officer and a mole in the force trying to identify one another while infiltrating an Irish gang in South Boston. Made on a reported $90 million budget, it grossed nearly $300 million worldwide and has a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score.
