Square Enix has released a new gameplay trailer for Final Fantasy Resonance, a turn-based RPG that reimagines the mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius as a traditional, premium title without gacha mechanics or microtransactions. The reveal has generated significant excitement among fans, particularly for its use of the HD-2D art style, which combines pixelated sprite characters with three-dimensional environments.

The trailer showcases a more cinematic take on the pixel art presentation, alongside glimpses of the game's world and strategic combat system. While the story centres on protagonist Rain and his companions, battles will feature returning fan-favourite elements such as espers (including Shiva and Titan) and Visions, which take the form of iconic characters like Cloud, Tidus and Squall. Final Fantasy Resonance is scheduled for release on PS5 on 22nd October 2026.
