Head Trip Was a One-Time-Only Festival. Apple Music Made Sure the World Saw It
Head Trip was a one-off dance music festival held at the Coachella site in Indio, California, and Apple Music made it the first complete festival to be livestreamed as video in the platform’s history. The broadcast was designed to extend the event’s reach beyond the 90,000 people attending in person and capture a major gathering of electronic music artists.
The festival’s first night ended early on 10 October because of lightning and the remnants of Tropical Storm Rachel, cutting short the free livestream and Calvin Harris’s set. He joined the rescheduled Sunday bill, which also included DJ Harvey, Peggy Gou, Kettama b2b Dom Dolla, Skrillex and Swedish House Mafia. Apple Music distributed video across YouTube, TikTok and Twitch, with audio simulcasts on Apple Music stations, TuneIn and SiriusXM.
