Headteacher at £20,000-a-year top London private school pleads guilty to dangerous driving after injuring cyclist
Catherine Hitchcock, headteacher of Donhead Preparatory School in south-west London, pleaded guilty to driving without due care after a cyclist fell and fractured his wrist. She had pulled into Robert Atkinson’s path at a Wimbledon mini roundabout, causing him to fall despite not colliding directly with her car.
Hitchcock admitted Atkinson had right of way and apologised through her lawyer. She was fined £911 and given five penalty points; her previously clean driving licence was noted. Hitchcock, 49, became Donhead’s headteacher in January 2024 and is also a governor and private-school inspector.
