Hearst Networks UK & Super Channel Search For Black Watch Entertainment’s ‘Missing Pieces’
Hearst Networks UK and Canada’s Super Channel have commissioned *Missing Pieces*, a 20-episode true-crime series produced by Manitoba-based Black Watch Entertainment. The series will reconstruct murder cases from the discovery of a dismembered body part, tracing how investigators identify victims and pursue those responsible.
The two seasons of 10 episodes will be filmed back-to-back, with each episode running for an hour; ITV Studios will handle international distribution. Investigators, witnesses, relatives and experts will contribute to the case accounts, which draw on DNA, missing-person reports, digital evidence and forensic analysis. The production qualifies for Manitoba tax credits of up to 65% and a 25% federal incentive.

Hearst Networks UK is the British arm of a television company, while Super Channel is a Canadian broadcaster. Black Watch Entertainment is a production company based in Manitoba, a province in central Canada; ITV Studios is a separate company that sells television programmes internationally.
True-crime programmes reconstruct real criminal cases, often using accounts from people involved and evidence gathered by investigators. DNA analysis, missing-person reports and digital records can help identify a victim and build a case, while forensic experts examine physical evidence.
The series is being made in Manitoba, where tax credits and a federal incentive can reduce production costs. Its cross-border commissioning reflects how broadcasters in different countries can jointly back programmes for their audiences.
