HEART’s ANN WILSON On How She Has Managed To Keep Her Singing Voice In Such Great Shape After Five Decades: ‘I Take Care Of Myself Moderately’
Ann Wilson says she keeps her singing voice in shape with moderate self-care and an hour of singing along to records before each show. Her routine matters to the Heart singer, whose voice has led the band for more than five decades.
In a recent podcast interview, Wilson said she often warms up to Elton John’s music, citing its many words, large melodic leaps and demanding pitch. She said she does not usually do vocal exercises and recalled that in Heart’s early years she sometimes partied alongside her bandmates. Heart has sold more than 35 million records and joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013; Wilson completed preventative chemotherapy in 2024 and said she was ready to tour in 2025.
