A man described by authorities as "heavily armed" was arrested near Donald Trump's golf course in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, just two days before the President was due to headline a Republican fundraising dinner at the venue. The arrest has heightened security concerns surrounding the high-profile event, given the proximity in timing and the discovery of loaded weapons on the suspect.

The man was named as 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele, who was spotted taking photographs and observing security activity at the club at around 3.30pm on Sunday. Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies detained him shortly after, finding a loaded magazine in his pocket, and a subsequent search of his vehicle uncovered a loaded firearm. Trump is scheduled to attend a Republican National Committee fundraising dinner at the family-owned golf club on Tuesday.
