Henry Cavill’s ‘Highlander’ Scottish Accent Is Officially “Bang On,” Says Co-Star [Exclusive]

Collider ·

Karen Gillan says Henry Cavill’s Scottish accent as Connor MacLeod in Chad Stahelski’s upcoming *Highlander* reboot is “bang on”. Her endorsement matters because Gillan, who plays Heather, says she is quick to judge actors’ Scottish accents and wary of performances that become caricatures.

Gillan said Cavill was vigilant about getting the accent right, even correcting mispronunciations of Gaelic on set. She also praised the screenplay, saying it improves on some aspects of the original film, and called its combination with Stahelski’s action direction a “winning combination”. The production also let Gillan film a Hollywood blockbuster in her native Scotland.
