Tesla has announced that its long-awaited Semi truck is finally in volume production, nearly a decade after its initial 2017 introduction. The company held an event at its new Semi factory in Nevada on Thursday to demonstrate the milestone to customers and investors, announcing several major customers including PepsiCo, US Foods, and DHL, with first deliveries beginning this week. This represents a significant achievement for Tesla's commercial vehicle ambitions, though the event notably lacked certain key updates such as official order numbers and confirmed pricing details.

The Semi factory, located next to Gigafactory Nevada, is capable of producing 50,000 trucks annually (1,000 per week). Tesla offers two trims: a Standard Range version with 325 miles of range and an 82,000-lb gross combination weight rating, and a Long Range version with 500 miles of range. The original 2017 prices of $150,000 to $180,000 have increased significantly, with reports suggesting the long-range model now costs $290,000. The company spent three years refining the design, reducing its weight by nearly 1,000 pounds before achieving volume production in April 2026, following earlier delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and global parts shortages.
