Here’s What Stevie Nicks and Olivia Rodrigo Sing on the ‘Practical Magic 2’ Soundtrack
Rolling Stone has confirmed that Stevie Nicks and Olivia Rodrigo both feature on the soundtrack for Practical Magic 2, the sequel to the 1998 witch fantasy film starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. The pairing follows a highly publicised moment at Rodrigo's inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival, where Nicks joined her on stage for a duet of "Landslide" in front of 45,000 fans, prompting Bullock to hint at the soundtrack link on social media. The contributions matter as a full-circle nod for Nicks, whose song "Crystal" appeared in the original film, while for Rodrigo it marks a high-profile film placement for one of her newer tracks.
Nicks and Rodrigo contributed separately rather than together: Rodrigo's "The Cure" plays in one scene and Nicks's "Landslide" in another. Rodrigo, who called "The Cure" one of her favourite songs she has written, performed it live at both her festival and a subsequent Grammy Museum appearance with Cameron Crowe. The film also reunites Bullock and Kidman with co-stars Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest, alongside newcomers Joey King, Maisie Williams and Lee Pace, and is set for release in cinemas on 10 September.
