Video game designer Hideo Kojima has published his review of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, praising the film for its portrayal of a "lonely" Peter Parker and saying it "felt fresh." The Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding creator, known for occasionally sharing detailed film critiques on social media, posted his thoughts on X/Twitter, marking the film as one that clearly resonated with him given the length and depth of his analysis.

In his review, Kojima noted that Spider-Man films have traditionally been grouped into self-contained trilogies with each new instalment reinventing the cast and crew, whereas this film continues the story and cast of its predecessor while still resetting elements, which he called "a very clever structure." He also reflected more broadly on the difficulty of balancing filmmakers' creative intentions with audience expectations in the age of social media, describing the film as a test of the franchise's "Brand" given it cannot afford to fail commercially. His review follows IGN's own assessment, which scored the film 7 out of 10.
