Manchester United Women began their 2026/27 Subway Players Cup campaign with a dominant 10-1 victory over Sheffield United at the Progress With Unity Stadium. The result was Eva Olid’s first win as United head coach and gave the team an emphatic opening result in the competition’s new league phase.

Maya Le Tissier opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Rebeca Bernal scored twice on her first United start. Mared Griffiths completed a hat-trick, while Lea Schüller scored twice and Ella Toone and Jess Simpson added one each; Amy Andrews scored Sheffield United’s consolation. United also handed debuts to goalkeeper Janina Leitzig and academy defender Scarlett Hill, and moved top of the group on goal difference.
