Dalton Mills, a Victorian textile complex in Keighley, West Yorkshire, that has featured as a filming location for Peaky Blinders and Downton Abbey, has been struck by a major fire for the fifth time in five years. Firefighters were called out on Saturday evening, and nearby residents had to be evacuated as crews tackled the blaze, with emergency planning officers brought in to support those displaced. The recurring fires have reignited anger over the site's neglect and poor security, with local MP Robbie Moore saying the situation "cannot continue" and criticising the local authority for failing to secure the derelict building.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it was called to the Grade II-listed mill at around 8pm on Saturday, citing the severity of the incident and risk to nearby homes as reasons for the evacuation. Built between 1866 and 1877 for worsted cloth manufacture and once employing up to 2,000 workers, the mill has stood largely derelict for years and suffered fires in 2011, March 2022, July 2025, and twice more in February this year, several confirmed as arson. Efforts to secure a new owner, including a bid by community group Future Transformation to restore the site, have been stalled by complicated ownership issues after the Crown Estate took possession under the legal principle of escheat.
