Home Depot’s 12-foot Skeleton is getting a big upgrade for Halloween 2026

Polygon · 1 month ago

Home Depot has unveiled its 2026 Halloween decoration lineup, headlined by a significantly upgraded version of Skelly, its famous 12-foot skeleton that became a viral sensation after its 2020 launch. The new model adds app-enabled features, letting owners control its head and mouth movements and speak through it in real time via Bluetooth, complete with optional voice-changing effects. The refresh reflects the enduring popularity of the giant skeleton, which continues to attract huge attention on social media each autumn.

The updated 12-foot Skelly costs $379 and offers 20 different LCD eyeball designs, plus the ability to record and store up to 30 custom sounds. Home Depot is also adding two new animatronic creatures for 2026: an 8-foot "Perilous Plant Monster" priced at $299, featuring a three-headed design with bony, root-like limbs, and a 5.5-foot "Wicked Woods Animated LED Evil Pixie" at $199, which has moving eyes, wings and mouth along with three sound effects. The announcement comes in July, well ahead of the Halloween season, underscoring how early retailers are now promoting seasonal decor.
