Actors Homer Gere and Kaia Gerber have spoken about the "really funny" experience of co-starring in Ryan Murphy's new FX series The Shards, 30 years after their famous parents, Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford, divorced. Speaking at the show's New York premiere, both said they had not met before filming began, despite their parents' long overlapping careers in entertainment, and described quickly becoming close friends and supportive scene partners during production.

Crawford and Gere divorced in 1995; Crawford later married Rande Gerber in 1998 and had Kaia in 2001, while Richard Gere married Carey Lowell in 2002 (they divorced in 2016, and he later remarried Alejandra Silva). Homer told E! News he and Kaia met at a cast gathering two weeks before shooting and bonded quickly, while Kaia praised Homer as "the greatest scene partner ever." The Shards, adapted from Bret Easton Ellis's novel about privileged students amid a 1981 Los Angeles serial killer plot, premieres on FX on 5 August.
