Honor has launched its Magic 9 flagship phones in China, with the 9 Pro Max combining a redesigned camera island, Arri video features and an unusually large battery. It is the first Honor flagship since the company announced its Arri collaboration, making the phone an early example of how that partnership will shape its cameras.

The Pro Max has 200-megapixel main and 3.5x telephoto cameras, plus a 50-megapixel ultrawide; Arri features include LogC3 recording, 14 preset looks and support for a 10-bit video codec. Its 8,800mAh battery uses up to 40 per cent silicon, and the phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Honor has confirmed an international launch but has not announced a date.
