Housing plans for former NHS HQ approved
Sheffield City Council has greenlit plans to convert a long-vacant fire-ravaged former NHS building at Fulwood into a residential development, overriding 150 community objections. The site, damaged by multiple fires and empty since 2023, will generate housing for 67 households alongside funding for local health services through land sale proceeds.
The scheme will restore the historic main building as six apartments and construct forty-six additional flats alongside individual houses, all featuring underground parking and recreational facilities. Planners removed the 1960s office block dismissed as an eyesore and committed to environmental improvements including seventy-two new trees and enhanced green corridors, addressing some community concerns whilst dismissing parking capacity objections as manageable.
