Colombian singer-songwriter Aria Vega has become Billboard’s Latin Up-and-Comer Artist of the Month after turning her Caribbean coastal identity into the viral “Costeñita Core” movement. Her success matters because it shows how regional Colombian music, dance and cultural pride can reach a wide audience through social media while remaining rooted in local traditions.

Vega, whose real name is Mariana Padilla Perez Campo Vega, began releasing original music in 2023, blending vallenato, cumbia, afrobeats and trap influences. Her 2025 collaboration with Dekko, “Costeñita”, inspired fans to celebrate costeño food, dance and identity; she then continued that sound on later singles. The Ryan Castro remix of “Chévere” became her first Billboard Colombia Hot 100 number one in February and was named Billboard’s top Latin song of 2026 so far in July.
