Japanese rock band BAND-MAID released their new single "ENERGETIC" on 24 June, their first release of 2026, ahead of a planned hiatus from live shows ("OKYU-JI") in 2027 to allow the band to recharge. The timing has shaped the tone of their recent output, with the band using their music to process and communicate their feelings about the upcoming break to fans, whom they refer to as "Masters and Princesses."

Speaking to Billboard Japan after wrapping the European leg of their world tour, which included stops in Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Paris and London plus an appearance at the UK's Download Festival, band members reflected on their first European shows in seven years and noted that over half of each audience were newcomers. They also discussed the companion single "Days," written as an emotional reassurance to fans during the coming separation, while "ENERGETIC" was composed with a more upbeat outlook, aiming to give audiences a lively, celebratory experience at 2026 shows before the hiatus begins.
