How Grimes’ Cameo in Theater-Bound AI Film ‘Gods Don’t Give Gifts’ Came Together (EXCLUSIVE)

Grimes has a brief cameo in “Gods Don’t Give Gifts”, an AI-made, post-apocalyptic feature directed by Zack London, known as Gossip Goblin. The role came together after Grimes interacted with London’s videos on X and they began messaging; the film is due in cinemas on 4 December and is being presented as the first AI feature to receive a theatrical release.

Grimes plays Zaynith Alda, an aristocrat seeking an illicit experience that lets people enter alternate realities. Her involvement led London and co-writer Jacob Batchelor to adapt the character with her input, including a mechanical-looking mask and a change to the character’s accent. Grimes’s spokesperson said she supports independent artists using AI tools when projects involve and compensate artists; the studio is also promoting the film to Academy voters and hopes it will be considered for an animation Oscar nomination.
