A commemorative pillar box painted gold to honour Sheffield's Olympic athlete Jess Ennis, installed in 2012 following her heptathlon victory at the London Games, has fallen into disrepair. The post box on West Street now bears signs of neglect, including rust staining beneath peeling paint, accumulated stickers, and damage to its attached plaque.

When surveyed by local media, Sheffield residents expressed strong sentiment that the tribute warrants restoration. Several emphasised that Ennis's achievement deserves respect and that the pillar box represents important civic heritage worth preserving. While a small minority noted the weathered appearance has acquired character, most agreed maintenance is overdue. Royal Mail, responsible for upkeep, has been asked to comment on plans for renewal.
