How KATSEYE’s Sophia Laforteza Made ‘Forgotten Island’ INXS Cover Her Own: ‘She Really Has the Story in Her DNA’

KATSEYE singer Sophia Laforteza has recorded a new interpretation of INXS’ “Never Tear Us Apart” for the animated film *Forgotten Island*. The filmmakers say the song reflects the friendship at the centre of the story, while Laforteza’s Filipino-American background helped her connect with the film’s themes inspired by Philippine mythology.

A digital bonus feature shows Laforteza and collaborators discussing the recording, which she performed while watching a scene from the film. The original song was a 1988 US Top 10 hit; Laforteza is currently on hiatus from KATSEYE for her mental health and plans to return to group activities in January 2027. The film is available digitally, with a 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD release due on 1 December.
