The Register is promoting an invitation-only dinner in New York about the costs and complications of file systems used by distributed teams. The article argues that office-era infrastructure can leave organisations storing several copies of the same file, waiting for them to sync and resolving uncertainty over which version is current.

The discussion is scheduled for 27 October, from 6.00pm to 8.30pm, at The Capital Grille in Midtown, chaired by The Register’s Joe Fay with Holly Bossert of LucidLink. Under the Chatham House Rule, attendees may use what they hear but cannot attribute it; topics include unstructured data growth, sync and version control, security, and modernising existing storage and governance investments.
