How to defeat Medusa in Castlevania Belmont’s Curse
Medusa, also known as the Prophetess, is one of the first three bosses in *Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse*. Defeating her earns a key needed to open the catacombs gate, as well as a new ability, so finding and beating her is an early step in progressing through the game.
She is in the Serpent’s Lair, beneath the Fountain of the Lost in Holy Innocents’ Cemetery, west of Paris Streets. Learn her three basic attacks and use the arena’s platforms to dodge, staying on the upper platform near her when looking for chances to strike. After roughly a quarter of her health is gone, she begins a more dangerous sequence: move to the opposite upper platform when the screen shakes, then hide behind the large rock on the lower platform opposite her to avoid her beams. This attack repeats, with smaller falling rocks added later.
- Find the Prophetess in the Serpent’s Lair beneath the cemetery.
- Dodge her attacks and use the upper platforms to strike.
- Hide behind the large rock when her screen-shaking attack begins.
