Palworld's 1.0 update has introduced World Tree Passives, powerful new traits for Pals that can significantly boost endgame team builds. The most reliable way to obtain a Pal with these passives is by finding and hatching a rare item called the Ominous Egg, which guarantees a Pal will inherit one of these new traits.

The Ominous Egg only appears in the World Tree region, which players must first unlock by progressing to the Sunreach Islands and defeating the boss Panthalus. Its spawn location is random, though it looks visually distinct from a normal egg; if players can't find one, they can pick up a regular egg in the region, log out and back in repeatedly until it becomes an Ominous Egg, then hatch it using a base's Egg Incubator or Ancient Hatchery.
