Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIV has expanded its Dawntrail relic weapon line, known as the Phantom relic, with new upgrade steps added in patch 7.55. Polygon has updated its guide to cover the process of obtaining the first-tier Phantom Penumbrae weapon and progressing through subsequent upgrade stages, including the newly added Phantom Eclipticum and Phantom Occultum tiers, reflecting the game's ongoing pattern of releasing relic content gradually across patches.

Players must first complete the main Dawntrail scenario and the Occult Crescent field-operation questline up to "Unfamiliar Territory", then begin the "Arcane Artistry" quest to collect demiatma items, which drop from FATEs and critical encounters in the Occult Crescent or Dawntrail zones. Eighteen demiatma of six varieties must be turned in, followed by purchasing and trading Arcanite bought with Allagan Tomestones of Heliometry, to forge the item level 745 starting weapon; later upgrades require repeating only the Arcanite purchase and trade steps, without further demiatma grinding. Polygon notes the drop rate for demiatma is notably low and says it will continue updating the guide as remaining steps, including those for the Phantom Occultum weapon, are confirmed.
