They matter because they feature in Festival Playlist challenges, including the “Horizon Mascot Party” daily task requiring three air skills, but the requirement is simpler than it may initially sound.

Small jumps over bumpy ground are sufficient, while simply driving off a bridge or another high surface does not count. Useful locations include the rice paddies near Tokyo City, where fast driving up embankments can produce repeated jumps; the challenge accepts any air-skill rating and any vehicle.
