Canadian rocker Sass Jordan, former Canadian Idol judge, dies at 65
Sass Jordan, the Canadian rock singer-songwriter who found success in the 1990s and later judged six seasons of Canadian Idol, has died aged 65. She died on 2 October surrounded by family; no cause of death has been announced.
Born in Birmingham in 1960, Jordan moved to Montreal as a child and signed with Atlantic Records in 1988. Her album Racine brought four Canadian Top 20 hits, while “Sun’s Gonna Rise” reached No 7 in Canada and became her only US Hot 100 hit. She later performed as Janis Joplin in Love, Janis and returned to blues with albums including 2020’s Rebel Moon Blues; in September, she cancelled tour dates citing a serious medical condition.
