How to solve the ‘Origin of the Ringing’ fire puzzle in Beast of Reincarnation

Polygon · 3 hours ago

Polygon has published a walkthrough for the "Origin of the Ringing" fire puzzle in the video game Beast of Reincarnation, one of the few obstacles in the game that cannot simply be bypassed with a weapon. The puzzle appears early in the Mountainous Region: Pilgrim's Zone and must be solved to unlock the path to a boss fight against the Nushi.

To solve it, players must read a document called "Light the Pyres" near a statue, which reveals that three smaller braziers depicting the sun, earth and moon must be lit in the order the celestial bodies were "born" — sun, then earth, then moon. This lights the central fire, after which players need to take an elevator behind the statue and ring a large bell at the Belfry Interior campfire to complete the quest and open the route to the Nushi's lair.

Beast of Reincarnation is a video game that includes exploration puzzles alongside combat, and the "Origin of the Ringing" fire puzzle is one of these obstacles that players cannot fight or force their way past. It sits early in an area called the Mountainous Region: Pilgrim's Zone, and solving it is a required step before players can move on to a boss encounter with a creature known as the Nushi.

The puzzle centres on a set of braziers, or small ceremonial fires, arranged around a statue and marked with symbols for the sun, earth and moon. Players need to find and read an in-game document that explains the correct order to light them, then use that information to activate a larger central fire and continue on their journey.

Gaming outlets such as Polygon regularly publish walkthroughs like this one to help players get past tricky sections without frustration, since puzzles of this kind can otherwise bring progress in the game to a halt.
