HTC launches Vive Eagle smart glasses across western markets

Engadget · 3 hours ago

HTC has finally launched its Vive Eagle smart glasses in North America, Europe, the UK and Australia, a full year after they debuted in Taiwan. The glasses are designed to rival Meta's smart glasses lineup and mark HTC's push into the increasingly competitive wearable AI space, giving Western consumers their first proper chance to try the device.

The specifications remain largely unchanged from the original launch, featuring a Snapdragon AR Gen 1 chip, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a 235mAh battery offering up to 36 hours of standby time, alongside a 12-megapixel camera with privacy safeguards such as a protected notification LED and automatic recording shutoff. Users can choose between OpenAI or Gemini for AI assistance, delivered through built-in open-ear speakers, and the glasses come in square or panto shapes with various colours and Zeiss lens options. US buyers can purchase from today starting at $499, while European and UK shipments begin on 21 September priced from €469/£429.
