  • The eight-episode thriller adapts a Slavic legend.

Explained simply

Baba Yaga is a figure from Slavic folklore, often linked to magic and the supernatural. Stories about her vary, and modern works have reimagined the legend in different ways.

Yaga uses that folklore in a mystery about a man who has disappeared. Noah Reid plays private investigator Rapp, who looks into the case with a local detective played by Clark Backo; Carrie-Anne Moss plays a professor connected to the missing man. The series is adapted from a 2019 play by Kat Sandler.

AMC+ is a subscription streaming service in the United States, and the series is also offered there through some other streaming and television services. That makes the story relevant to viewers interested in how folklore is being adapted for television and where to find the series.
