Florida officers remove 11ft alligator that followed couple near fatal attack

Daily Mail ·

An 11ft alligator that had followed Randy Forbes and his wife around their Lake Apopka property was removed after the couple became concerned about its lack of fear of people and the risk to nearby children. The incident has drawn attention to alligator risks in the area following the recent death of a fisherman nearby.

Florida wildlife officers removed two alligators from the lake: one measuring 8ft 10in and the other 11ft 1in, which Forbes believed was the nuisance animal. They were taken to Gatorland, about 40 miles away, and Forbes said the couple had no further problems. Earlier this month, 71-year-old Steve Hamilton was killed after an alligator dragged him into the water as he posed with a fish; authorities trapped and killed the 12ft animal.
