Surveillance footage has captured a boat carrying more than a dozen suspected undocumented migrants docking in Newport Beach, California, over the weekend. The affluent coastal town has become a recurring site for such arrivals, following a similar incident in 2024 when approximately 20 migrants disembarked at Balboa Peninsula in footage that went viral. The latest incident underscores ongoing concerns about the frequency of these arrivals in the area, with local officials expressing alarm over public safety implications.

The migrants were filmed exiting a 20-foot vessel near Cypress Street, reportedly damaging a nearby yacht in the process, before dispersing into the neighbourhood. The United States Coast Guard subsequently took control of the boat. This incident occurs within the context of the Trump administration's recent policy changes regarding immigration, including new green card eligibility rules that took effect this week, requiring applicants to declare whether they require social benefits. As of December 2025, approximately 1.3 million green card applications remained pending in the immigration system.
