Huge Helldivers 2 Patch Adds New Illuminate Enemies, a New Biome ‘Full of Fresh Horrors,’ a Level Cap Increase and Much More

IGN ·

Arrowhead has released Helldivers 2 update 7.0.0, a major patch centred on the campaign towards the Void. It introduces new Illuminate-related enemies, a new biome described as containing “fresh horrors”, and raises the player level cap, expanding both gameplay challenges and long-term progression.

The update adds the regenerating Crusher and agile Wretch enemies, alongside a SEAF planet modifier that brings friendly Super Earth troops into missions with equipment including stim pistols and heavy machine guns. The emote wheel now holds eight emotes rather than four, assisted reloads can be performed when either participating player has the required backpack, and ranks now extend from level 150 to 300 with 15 new titles and icons. The patch also coincides with the launch of the Helldivers 2 x Warhammer 40,000 Castellan’s Creed Legendary Warbond.

In short

  • Update 7.0.0 adds enemies, biome and progression.
  • Level cap rises from 150 to 300.
  • Assisted reloads now require less player coordination.

Explained simply

Helldivers 2 is a co-operative action game in which players take the role of Helldivers, soldiers fighting for Super Earth against hostile forces. Its ongoing campaign sends players to different planets, where they complete missions and face enemy factions, including the Illuminate.

Arrowhead develops the game, while Super Earth is the fictional human power whose forces players support. Players earn experience and ranks as they take part in missions, and Warbonds are themed sets of items that can add equipment and other rewards.

Updates can change the enemies, settings and tools available in missions, as well as how players progress. These changes matter to both people learning the game and experienced players, because they can affect how teams prepare and work together.
