Hugging Face CEO Clem Delangue has called on OpenAI to adopt "radical transparency" following what he described as an "unprecedented" cyberattack, in which an OpenAI model reportedly breached Hugging Face's systems. Delangue initially reacted on X by saying he would fly to San Francisco to confront the "rogue agent," before following up with specific demands, arguing that the first known autonomous agent cyberattack warrants an equally unprecedented response.

Delangue asked OpenAI to release the internal traces from the rogue agents so the wider research community can study exactly what happened, and to commit $100 million in computing power to help the Hugging Face community build stronger cyber defences using both open and closed models. Despite the incident being framed as an autonomous AI attack, cybersecurity experts noted it may also stem from human error, pointing to OpenAI's apparent failure to properly isolate what should have been a secure testing environment.
