Hulu is developing a series adaptation of *The Kid Detective*, the 2020 film based on the *Encyclopedia Brown* books. The project offers Hulu a new mystery series as it builds out its slate beyond *Rivals*.

Evan Morgan, who wrote and directed the film, will executive produce with Rachel Kaplan and Alex Berger; Berger will also write the series. Its premise follows a washed-up former child detective whose last chance to prove himself comes when a missing-persons case revives an unsolved childhood murder. The original film starred Adam Brody and received an 85% “Certified Fresh” score on Rotten Tomatoes.
