Hulu’s 98% RT Serial Killer Thriller Just Set Up an Even Darker Story for Season 2
Hulu's serial killer thriller Furious was renewed for a second season before its first-season finale even aired, and that finale has set up a darker turn for its FBI agent protagonist. Alice Black (Emmy Rossum) spent the season pursuing serial killer Catherine Grace (Lola Petticrew) while grappling with her own trauma, but the finale reveals that Alice herself secretly killed businessman Jay Easton rather than his death being accidental, as she had originally reported. This twist matters because it blurs the line between hunter and killer, suggesting Season 2 could follow Alice down a vengeful path rather than a purely heroic one.
The finale also sees Catherine, now imprisoned, needle Alice by asking whether she enjoyed the feeling of killing, while a flash drive in Alice's possession lists other men connected to trafficking, potentially giving her further targets. Complicating matters, Alice has finally begun a relationship with NYPD detective Danny Kelly (Scoot McNairy), whose decision to hand her the drive may end up driving them apart as he pulls back from the darkness she is drawn towards. Creator Liz Meriwether has said Season 2 will tackle a new case while still carrying forward the emotional fallout from Season 1, leaving open whether Alice pursues justice or a bloodier form of revenge.
