Hum Are Hitting the Road in 2027
Illinois shoegaze band Hum have announced their first proper tour since 2015, with US dates running from March to July 2027. The return follows their well-received performances at this year’s Slide Away festival and brings the band back on the road after a hiatus that included the death of original drummer Bryan St. Pere in 2021.
The tour begins in Atlanta and includes stops in Houston, Dallas, Austin, Denver, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Washington, New York, Boston, Seattle and San Francisco. The Life and Times will support at every show; Pelican will open on East Coast dates and Spotlights on West Coast dates. Jason Gerken, who played drums with Hum on their 2015 tour and at Slide Away, will return for the run; at the festival, Hum performed songs from 2020’s Inlet live for the first time.

Explained simply
Hum are an alternative rock band from Illinois, known for combining heavy guitar sounds with hazy, atmospheric melodies. Their best-known records include You’d Prefer an Astronaut, released in 1995, and Inlet, which came out in 2020 after a long gap between albums.
The band’s history has been shaped by breaks in activity and the death of original drummer Bryan St. Pere in 2021. Jason Gerken, who had played with Hum on an earlier tour, has since performed with them at festivals. Their return to touring matters to long-time listeners and gives newer audiences a chance to hear songs from across the band’s catalogue live.
