Dutch film-maker Tom Six has disclosed that he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2020 and has spent six years largely confined to his Amsterdam home. His homemade documentary, The End of Tom Six, presents his illness and isolation as central themes and is described by Six as his final film.

Six, 52, says the neurological condition has left him unable to walk and that stress surrounding the unreleased follow-up project The Onania Club worsened his health. The documentary will be released on YouTube on 15 August using a pay-what-you-want model; it also includes his criticism of what he sees as increased caution in the film industry.
