Earlier, only about six Sheffield Patriots activists had appeared in Barker’s Pool, where police kept groups apart and some arrests were reported. The demonstrations formed part of wider tensions over immigration and race, with authorities preparing for more than 100 planned protests and counter-protests across England and Wales.
