Melbourne delivery driver fatally stabbed while collecting a food order
A HungryPanda delivery driver and father of two was fatally stabbed while collecting a food order in Melbourne’s central business district on Friday evening. The death has renewed concerns about the safety of food delivery workers, many of whom say they fear assault while working.
Emergency services were called to Fredrick Way shortly before 8.10pm; the man died at the scene despite attempts to resuscitate him. A second man in his 30s was found nearby with a suspected stab wound and taken to hospital. Police are investigating whether the incident was targeted, no arrests have been made, and HungryPanda says it is supporting the driver’s family. A survey of 250 delivery workers found 65 per cent were concerned for their safety and half worried about being assaulted.
