Hunt second in Diamond League 200m as White wins

BBC Sport · 4 hours ago

Amy Hunt finished second in the women's 200m at the Lausanne Diamond League, continuing her strong form after a record-breaking European Championships in Birmingham. The British sprinter crossed the line in 22.32 seconds, narrowly beaten to first by American Kayla White, with the result reinforcing Hunt's status as one of the standout performers of the season.

Hunt clocked 22.32 seconds, edging out Nigeria's Favour Ofili in a photo finish, while White won in 22.18. Former world champion Shericka Jackson pulled up injured on the bend and Brittany Brown did not start. Hunt's result follows her historic week in Birmingham, where she won four gold medals – in the 100m, 200m, women's 4x100m relay and mixed 4x100m relay – becoming the first athlete to achieve that feat at a single European Championships. Elsewhere, Zharnel Hughes finished fifth in the men's 200m, won by Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo, and Switzerland's Audrey Werro set a meeting record in the 800m; Keely Hodgkinson did not compete but will race in Zurich.
