BBC Sport · 3 hours ago

Georgia Hunter Bell won 800m gold for England at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and is targeting a four-gold season in 2026. The victory is significant as it is her first outdoor title, adding to her 1500m world indoor gold and underlining her emergence as a leading middle-distance runner later in her career.

The 32-year-old won in 1:59.51, breaking clear with 200m remaining to finish more than a second ahead of the field. Bell, who returned to athletics after a five-year break, will compete in the 1500m at the European Championships in Birmingham and at September’s inaugural Ultimate Championships; Keely Hodgkinson did not race in Glasgow after opting for time off.
