Anthony Brooks, 33, has lost his University of Melbourne scholarship and been banned from campus after facing 46 serious charges, including rape, sexual fraud, stalking and child abuse material offences. A Melbourne magistrate rejected his request to spend two months in New South Wales, ruling that travel would reduce police oversight and increase the risk of further offending.

Prosecutors allege Brooks used false identities and electronic devices to harass a vulnerable man and maintain an unwanted sexual relationship between February 2023 and June 2024. He is also accused of producing an intimate image, breaching bail three times and failing to meet sex-offender reporting requirements; the allegations have not been proven, and the court noted that no mental-health treatment plan had been provided.
