Ike Ugbo has left Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan to join a club in Cyprus, saying he felt he needed a fresh opportunity in his career. The move offers the forward a chance to rebuild form and playing time after his prospects at Hillsborough had diminished, while allowing Wednesday to reduce their attacking options for the campaign.

Ugbo first impressed during a 2023–24 loan spell, scoring seven goals in 19 appearances as Wednesday preserved their Championship status, before signing permanently from Troyes in August 2024. However, his subsequent time at the club proved difficult, and he remains contracted to Wednesday until 2028 despite the temporary exit.
