‘I have never seen a 90 percent premium share before:’ Only one in ten players preordered GTA 6’s standard edition, proving fans are willing to stomach the $100 price

Sensor Tower data cited by GamesIndustry.biz suggests that most current Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders are for its more expensive premium edition, rather than the standard version. If accurate, the figures indicate unusually strong willingness among early buyers to pay extra for added content, reinforcing the franchise’s exceptional commercial pull.

On Xbox, 90% of pre-orders were reportedly for the $100 premium edition, while the equivalent figure on PlayStation was 88.5%, compared with an $80 standard edition. Analyst Karl Kontus said premium editions normally account for around 10–20% of pre-orders, or up to 50% in unusually strong cases, but expects the split to become closer to even as the 19 November release date approaches and more casual buyers purchase the game.

  • GTA 6 pre-orders are overwhelmingly for the premium edition.
  • Xbox premium share reportedly stands at 90%.
  • The balance may shift nearer release.
