‘I Love Everything About Her’: Shania Twain Has Only Good Things to Say About Taylor Swift

Billboard · 2 hours ago

Shania Twain has spoken warmly about Taylor Swift ahead of the release of her seventh studio album, Little Miss Twain, praising the pop star's songwriting and musicianship during an appearance on The Tonight Show. The comments come as Twain promotes her new record, released via Republic Nashville on 24 July, which follows 2023's Queen of Me and draws on intimate details from her childhood as a young performer. The remarks matter as another example of prominent artists publicly championing Swift's craft, reinforcing her standing among her peers even as she was absent from Twain's schedule during a busy touring period.

During the Jimmy Fallon interview, which aired on 22 July, Twain discussed the album's title track, inspired by her childhood nickname earned performing in bars from the age of eight, and confirmed long-rumoured plans for a musical and biopic about her life. She also reflected on her career highlights, including three consecutive diamond-certified albums starting with 1995's The Woman in Me, five Grammy Awards and over 100 million album sales, alongside health struggles such as Lyme disease and throat surgeries. Twain noted she missed Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding because she was opening for Harry Styles during his 12-show Wembley Stadium residency, but said she looks forward to seeing Swift and praised her for writing her own songs, saying: "I love her. I love everything about her."
