Rachel Bolan, long-serving bassist of Skid Row, has released his debut solo album, Gargoyle Of The Garden State, some 40 years into his music career. The punk-influenced record sees Bolan take on lead vocals and play most of the instruments himself, marking a departure from his usual role, and comes after his recent move back to his native New Jersey following 25 years living in Atlanta.
The album features guest contributions from Corey Taylor, Danko Jones and Extreme's Nuno Bettencourt, alongside Bolan's own Skid Row bandmates Dave "Snake" Sabo and Scotti Hill. In the accompanying interview, Bolan also discusses Skid Row's new singer, his love of punk and Oasis, and his desire to occasionally step outside the leather-and-nose-chain rock image associated with his day job.
